The Traditional Dental Bridge A Great Way to Replace a Missing Tooth
Six Benefits of Dental Bridges
Smile Completion
Missing teeth create an incomplete smile. A dental bridge will fill in visible smile gaps caused by teeth lost to trauma, disease, or decay.
Improved Speech Quality
Your tongue needs to push against your teeth to produce certain sounds. A dental bridge can help you speak more clearly, reducing the risk of garbled or mumbled words.
Stability
When a tooth is missing, the natural teeth surrounding the gap in your smile can shift out of place, causing a bite misalignment. A dental bridge can keep existing teeth from moving.
Improved Chewing and Diet
Missing teeth can make eating painful and limit you to softer foods. A dental bridge can restore balanced chewing functions and allow you to eat crunchy, healthy foods like raw fruits and nuts.
Healthier Facial Appearance
If you are missing teeth, your face can become sunken, giving you an aged, puckered look. A dental bridge placed at our Ridgewood, NJ, practice can fill out your face, giving you a healthier, more youthful appearance.
Confidence Booster
Having a healthy looking smile thanks to a dental bridge can make it easier for you to feel confident in social and professional situations.

Glowing Reviews for Our Ridgewood, NJ, Practice
From the minute I walked through the door I felt that I was finally in the right place to have the years of neglecting my teeth attended to. I was introduced to the entire staff including both working partners. I felt like royalty and a member of their family. So far I have had two implants, 1 bridge and numerous cleanings. Each visit has been pleasant and everything explained to me is what was actually performed - no surprises. I would recommend RDA to anyone seeking the best in dentistry .
View on GoogleMy visit with Dr. Samani D.M.D. and his Assistant, Adriana, went very well! I am having a #14 molar replaced that cracked. Dr Samani is very professional and talented. He and Adriana teamed up to give me stellar care and made sure everything was perfect with the scans and impressions. I told Dr Samani that I just recommended two former co workers to him!

Traditional Dental Bridges
- A traditional bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth called pontics that are anchored in place with dental crowns.
- The dental crowns are placed over your natural teeth on either side of the pontics. These teeth will need to be altered by your Ridgewood, NJ, dentist so the crowns will fit over them.
- Compared to implant-supported bridges, traditional bridges are a simpler treatment. A traditional dental bridge may be the only way to replace missing teeth for patients who do not have sufficient bone for dental implants.
Implant-Supported Dental Bridges
- For many of our patients, bridges supported by dental implants are the preferred cosmetic dentistry procedure to replace missing teeth. Your bridge will be attached to titanium posts that are surgically embedded into your jaw by one of our skilled dentists. The posts act as artificial tooth roots and can last a lifetime.
- With implant-supported bridges, natural teeth do not need to be reduced to accommodate crowns, as the dentures are attached directly to the implants. The titanium dental implants can provide a lifetime of superior stability and support. Another benefit is how the implants prevent jawbone shrinkage caused by missing teeth.
- All aspects of the dental implant and restoration procedures can be performed at our state-of-the-art Ridgewood, NJ, practice. This saves you the hassle of having to make extra appointments with an outside oral surgeon.

The Traditional Dental Bridge Procedure
To place a traditional bridge that will replace one tooth or a few consecutive missing teeth, your dentist will first prepare your adjacent existing teeth for crowns. This involves reducing the tooth on either side of the gap before taking precise impressions.
Patients may receive a temporary bridge while they wait for their permanent bridge to be crafted by our trusted partner lab, which can take six days to around two weeks. We can also do a three day rush delivery if requested.
When your customized bridge is ready, you will come back to our office to have it placed. At this time, your dentist will ensure it fits properly. Next, the restoration will be secured with dental cement. Your dentist can make any necessary adjustments at this time in order to achieve a comfortable and balanced bite.
