Hilsen Awared Rare Fellowship

Kenneth Hilsen, D.D.S., F.I.C.D, of Ridgewood Dental Associates was awarded Fellowship in the American College of Dentists on Oct. 6 during their Annual Meeting and Convention in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Hilsen was the only dentist to receive this special recognition this year and one of only 16 dentist from New Jersey out of the more than 260 recognized worldwide.

Dr. Kenneth Hilsen has practiced dentistry for over 30 years. His specialty is prosthodontics: his areas of expertise include crowns and bridges, dentures, implants, porcelain laminates and BriteSmile teeth whitening, TMJ/TMD, pre and post-dental treatment for radiation and chemotherapy patients, and snoring and sleep apnea. Dr. Hilsen holds patents for three devices designed to treat sleep disorders.

Dr. Hilsen is affiliated with Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Holy Name Hospital, Pascack Valley Hospital, and Veterans administration Hospital. He has lectured as such institutions as NYU, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Hilsen had been active for years in the professional organization American College of Prosthodontics, including serving as President of the New Jersey Section. He is also the founder of their Center for Prosthodontics Education. In addition to the ACP, Dr. Hilsen is a member of the American Dental Association, American Sleep Disorders Society, American Academy of Head, Neck Facial Pain and TMJ Orthopedics, National Headache Foundation, and the Academy of Osseointegration.

The American College of Dentists was founded in 1920 to recognize dentists who have made significant contributions to the advancement of dentistry. The mission of the American College of Dentists is to promote excellence, ethics and professionalism in dentistry. Fellowship in the College is by invitation and based on demonstrated leadership and contributions to the dental profession and society. Approximately 3.5% of dentists are Fellows of the American College of Dentists.
